Pedestrian killed near SPID/Crosstown interchange identified

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — UPDATE (11:15 a.m. Thursday): The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who died Tuesday. Francisco Casares, 58, was killed after being hit by a vehicle.

Corpus Christi police closed access roads at SPID and Crosstown northbound on Tuesday after an accident involving a pedestrian.

Police were called to the area just after 8:30 p.m. for reports that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the freeway.

As police work that crash, some access roads in the area are being closed. If you plan on heading that way, please take an alternate route or use caution.

CCPD Public Information Officer Travis Pace tells us this is a fatal accident.
