Don’t be alarmed this Wednesday if you see several emergency crews at the Corpus Christi International Airport. The airport will be holding an air emergency evacuation drill.
The airport is working with the Texas Air National Guard to hold the drill this Wednesday, June 12. The group will prepare for a mock hurricane. The CCIA will receive mock patients from military transport aircraft flown by the Texas Air National Guard. Volunteer evacuees will be seen by the Texas Department Patient Reception Team. This team accounts for patients and provides short term care during a disaster.
The exercises will also give CCIA staff a chance to practice and evaluate plans for evacuating and sheltering people in the event of severe weather.
