A young boy who was pulled unconscious from a swimming pool at a local apartment complex on Saturday has died.
According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office, 5-year-old Ryu Barrientes died after being found unconscious in the water at the Saratoga Cove apartments around 8:25 p.m. on April 6.
According to Corpus Christi Police, Barrientes was at a nearby birthday party, and was found in the water by a group of children.
Police said a nine-year-pulled pulled Barrientes from the water and, some of the children performed CPR until medics could arrive.
Barrientes was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where he later died.
An investigation into the drowning is ongoing.
