The Corpus Christi Independent School District released a press release today letting residents, community leaders and the community of Mary Carroll High School that it will promptly notify everyone if the location for construction changes.

Construction of the school is planned for land located at Weber and Saratoga.  Controversy has surrounded the construction of the school.  Most recently, concerns over the location being so close to a Navy Flight training crash zone.  The Navy has expressed concerns over the safety of students and staff that would attend the school.

Today, the District stated in the release:

Over the past week, district officials have met with the mayor’s office, Navy officials and the South Texas Military Facilities Task Force’s executive committee. We appreciate the opportunity to review the process up to this point and to discuss the Weber and Saratoga property’s proximity to one of the Navy’s training sites.

The District purchased the property late last year.   The exact amount paid for it is unknown.

The District also stated that it will move quickly to minimize delay of construction.

If, in the course of reemphasizing existing information about the Weber and Saratoga property location, we determine it is in the best interest of our community to build at another site within the CCISD boundaries area, we will promptly share this information with the community and move efficiently so as not to cause undue delay in construction.

The school is slated to open in 2022.
