One of the companies that brought electric scooter service to Corpus Christi is leaving town.

The scooter company Bird refused to sign an agreement with the city which would have required them to pay a $1 a day per scooter fee.

Two other scooter companies, Lime and Blue Duck, agreed to the fee and signed the agreement.

Today, Bird posted a message to its mobile app thanking Corpus Christi residents for believing in its vision of a world with fewer cars and cleaner air.

Bird had about 800 scooters in operation throughout the city.
