New Year’s celebration bring an increased number of impaired drivers on the roadways, and local law enforcement will be out in force to crack down on those who choose to drive drunk.

So far in 2018, 1,332 DWI arrests have been made in Corpus Christi. That’s 73 more arrests than the 1,259 made in all of 2017, and officers don’t want this years numbers to get any higher.

CCPD says if you decide to go out and celebrate, know that there are many avenues you can take to find a sober ride home.

Plan ahead, have a designated driver, or call a cab or ride-share for a safe ride home that won’t land you in jail. Or worse.
