The community is banding together to help the families of the men killed at a home in Taft over the weekend.

BBQ Benefit organizer Jerry Ortiz said, ” We are a small community. When something like this happens you know the people. Its kinda hard not to help. I hate to see someone grieve and have to worry about funeral expenses.”

The money from the benefit will be used toward funeral expenses for the victims.

It will be held October 27th at the Taft Little League Field on Murray Street.

Chicken plates with all the trimmings will cost $10.

The fundraiser starts at 11 a.m. and there will be plenty of activities for the whole families.

Organizers say H-E-B and others members of the community have stepped up to help.

Ortiz said, ” I would like to ask for our car scene guys, the low riders, the trucks. If they can make it out. Just a little bit of their time just to bring the cars out.”

If you would like to volunteer contact Jerry Ortiz at 361-633-3327.
