According to national statistics, the Hispanic population accounted for 32 percent of new HIV diagnoses in 2016.
To help drive home the importance of regular HIV testing, the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation offered free testing today in honor of National LatinX HIV and AIDS Awareness Day.
It is their mission to raise awareness for HIV and AIDS testing in the community. This took place at the Goodwill on Port Avenue from the hours of 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
The next time free testing will be available will be on December 1st, for world AIDS Day.
