Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the City of Corpus Christi and the Texas Department of Transportation have joined forces to show some Islander pride.
Crews have spent the last two weeks painting poles blue and green at the intersection of Ennis Joslin and South Padre Island Drive. They also added the university emblems.
University officials say the idea started two years ago. So, they asked the city council during their August 14 meeting to paint the poles in the Islander colors. They liked the idea and voted to have the poles painted.
By the way, this is part of a larger branding effort within the community. If you head on over to Waters Edge Park, there’s an Islander Pavilion and volleyball courts.
