President Donald Trump tweeted out Friday that he plans to visit Texas in October in what he terms “a major rally” for incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz.

Trump says he’ll visit the biggest stadium in the state he can find.

The largest would be Texas A&M’s Kyle Field in College Station, with a capacity of 102,995. The Aggies have only an Oct. 6 home date against Kentucky scheduled, meaning the mammoth facility would be open for at least three weekends.

Or if Trump and Cruz really want to go big time they might consider utilizing the Texas Motor Speedway northwest of Fort Worth. That facility can pack in 181,655 patrons. The facility has no major weekend events scheduled that month.

Trump also had a couple of barbs for Democratic senatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke as Trump praised Cruz.

“As you know, Ted has my complete and total Endorsement,” Trump tweeted. “His opponent is a disaster for Texas – weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military and Vets.”

The race between Cruz and O’Rourke has heated up in recent weeks. An Emerson College poll released earlier this week shows that Cruz’s lead has been whittled to 1 percentage point over O’Rourke.

And don’t be surprised if similar campaign visits continue through the next several weeks until the Nov. 6 election. The Texas race should be one of the most notable during the upcoming political season.
