Developers move forward with Island grocery store construction

CORPUS CHRISTI – A grocery store on the Island is closer to becoming a reality.  The developers, Mohsin and Lori Rasheed say they’ve got their “Fill” permit which deals with the elevation of the land Rasheed wants to build. The City required the property to be elevated about four to six feet higher before issuing the permit.

The land which is located along Park Road 22, just past Whitecap can now be cleared for the store.  Building permits are still needed and those can take up to three months.  Once those are approved, construction could take about 9 months.

The Rasheeds were considering building a hotel further down Park Road 22 with the hopes that tourism from Schlitterbahn would keep them busy. They put that project on hold in light of the Schlitterbahn issues.
