The Blessings Shop and Resale is back in business and 83 year old Mary Jo Updegrove, who has been a dedicated volunteer the past 11 years, couldn’t be happier.

“It is a fabulous feeling we’ve worked awfully hard for it,” said Updegrove.

Hurricane Harvey literally destroyed this store. The ceiling was caved in water was all over the place. Every single bit of merchandise had to be thrown away.

“It took us four thirty foot roll offs to clear the store out,” said volunteer Charlotte Dear.

Then the work came to rebuild the store and replace the merchandise.

Now, the store is good as new. The merchandise is good as new and the loyal customers love the store being open.

How disappointed wee you when the hurricane just destroyed this shop? “Oh horribly, horribly, I love this place,” said shopper Connie Halvorson.

What’s the best thing you like about it? “The prices are great,” Halvarson continued.

One of the things that makes the Blessings Shop so special is the fact they are owned by 5 local churches in Aransas Pass and all the proceeds funnel back into other local non-profits.

“It’s good for the community, cause its inexpensive items and it all goes back to charity,” said Updegrove.

So whether you are in the need for some cool nick nacks or anything else around the house. The Blessings Shop is open for business.

10-4 Tuesday thru Saturday.
