CORPUS CHRISTI – Expect parts of the freeway to be closed Wednesday and Thursday night until the morning. The City is continuing to do construction on the roads and have had to make some changes to closures.
The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights. All work is weather permitting:
Heading East on TX-358 (SPID Freeway):
All freeway lanes between Everhart and Staples will be closed at 9 p.m. The Everhart Road on-ramp between Everhart and Staples will be closed for pavement work. This means drivers will get off the freeway at Everhart Road, go past the Everhart Road and South Staples Street intersections, then get back on the freeway.
Heading West on TX-358 (SPID Freeway):
On Wednesday at 9 p.m., all freeway lanes between Everhart and Weber will be closed so that crews can work on overpass upgrades at Weber Road. The freeway will open up at 6 a.m. on Thursday.
On Thursday at 9 p.m., all freeway lanes will be closed between Rodd Field Road and Airline. Crews will install barriers and perform high mast lighting upgrades. You’ll need to get off at the Rodd Field Road exit, go past the Rodd Field Rd., Nile Drive and Airline intersections then get on the freeway.
Weber Road Intersection Closures
Wednesday, Aug. 8, and Thursday, Aug. 9: Weber Road under the freeway will close at night so crews can work on overpass upgrades. Drivers going northbound on Weber Road will take a detour on the access road to the turnaround or intersection at Everhart Road. If heading south on Weber, you’ll go down the access road towards Carroll Lane.
Be aware that the speed limit in the construction area is 55 mph on the main freeway lanes and 40 mph on the access road. Traffic fines double in work zones when workers are present.
