Three perfect scores and two B-list restaurants are in Thursday’s edition of the Kitchen Cops.

Mrs. B’s Barbacoa & More located at 5002 Bonner scored a 100.

Speedy’s Snack located at 2001 Horne scored a 100.

Fired Up Nutrition located at 10501 Leopard scored a 100.

Earning a spot on the A-list with a 99 is Great American Cookies located at 5488 South Padre Island Drive.

Schlotzsky’s located at 4218 Alameda scored a 99.

Subway located at 3701 Leopard scored a 99.

Simply Elegance By Raymond located at 817 Airline scored a 98.

Wendy’s located at 4105 Ayers scored a 95.

Taqueria Jalisco located at 2341 Horne scored a 95.

Hacienda Vieja located at 4301 Staples scored a 95.

Blackbeards On The Beach located at 3117 Surfside scored a 93.

Boat N Net located at 1411 Port scored a 93.

La Playa Mexican Restaurant located at 5017 Saratoga scored a 93.

Acapulco Restaurant & Bar located at 6517 Weber scored a 92.

Chick-Fil-A located at 5488 South Padre Island Drive scored a 92.

Panda Express located at 4119 Staples scored a 92.

Papa John’s Pizza located at 522 Everhart scored a 92.

The Brick Bar & Bites located at 4535 South Padre Island Drive scored a 92.

La Costenita located at 4217 Leopard scored a 91.

Dropping down to the B-list with an 86 is Ol’ Steakhouse Co. located at 4307 Avalon.

Violations included chicken and other meats kept at the wrong temperature, a dirty can opener, bar glasses needed to be washed thoroughly, chemicals were not stored properly, roaches, employees were not wearing hair or beard restraints, employee cups needed lids, condiment containers were not covered, meat was not thawed properly and ice scoops were not stored properly.

Vernon’s Mexican Café located at 1030 3rd Street scored an 82.

Health inspectors found refrigeration units kept at the wrong temperature, black residue on ceiling vents, corroded shelves, expired food manager card, expired food handler cards, food items were not labeled,
no thermometers, and the restrooms needed to be cleaned there were bad odors.
