The 2020-2021 school year for Corpus Christi Independent School District students kicks off on Thursday.

This fall the class setting will look a little different.

Students will spend the first three weeks learning virtually and will follow a typical school day schedule.

Online learning for elementary students will be from 7:50 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

For middle school students, online classes will go from 8:50 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.

For high school students, online classes will be from 8:50 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.

While in a remote learning environment, time management is critical and students and teachers must remain in communication regarding daily schedules and assignments.

Attendance will be counted but for those students who can't remain online for the entire virtual schedule, there are options.

CCISD Superintendent, Dr. Roland Hernandez says, "If the teacher is having contact with the parent and the student and able to get the assignment they missed it is possible that the student and family can work with the teacher to get the assignment and instruction provided."

Dr. Hernandez says the district realizes the start to the school year will be a struggle for both parents and students.

But he advises them to remain in contact with teachers who will work with families as they navigate a new way of class instruction.
