CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B employees across the state say they are getting grief from shoppers over their masking order.

VICE.com's Hannah Smothers reportsthat customers who refuse to wear masks in the stores during the pandemic have bullied H-E-B employees for months to the point where they say they don't feel safe enforcing the statewide mask order.

“Many [customers] have become verbally and even physically abusive in some stores," a Houston H-E-B manager told VICE. "I have been personally told by customers that H-E-B does not honor the rights they fought for in the war, told they have medical concerns with masks, and I was violating their rights and HIPAA laws.

"We offer masks and inform customers of the [county] ordinance in place. However, when it comes to making them leave, due to the way many have reacted, we have stopped doing so. Our safety is priority, we do not want our leaders at risk for the abuse we have all taken the last several months.”

Several reports about similar concerns have gone viral across the state during the pandemic. One Cedar Park woman posted a Facebook Live where she appeared to have a panic attack after H-E-B employees refused to check her out for not wearing a mask.

So what do you think?. Have you come in contact with customers who have openly flauted social-distancing rules in public places. What did you do?
