A lawsuit has been filed over the City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County’s beach closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Nueces County man who bought beach parking permits said by closing the beaches the city and county breached the contract attached to those permits.

The plaintiff William A. Rickertsen is seeking a temporary injunction, among other things, that reopen the beaches to vehicle traffic.

Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb and Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales are named as the defendants in the case.

KRIS 6 News obtained court documents Monday revealing that a Nueces County man is suing Corpus Christi, Mayor Joe McComb, Nueces County, and Canales.

William Rickertsen said the defendants breached the contract associated with the beach parking permits he bought "sometime in the first several months of 2020" by closing beaches.
