The Ingleside ISD has announced it will continue football practices after receiving word earlier today that two players tested positive for COVID-19.

The district said in a Facebook release on Saturday it has contacted the San Patricio County Health Department and the families of the two players involved.

"We are working with them to ensure the safety of all students and staff and to determine the confirmed outcome of these positive cases," the district said in a release.

The students will self-quarantine until they meet guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency, the University Interscholastic League and the Centers for Disease Control.

The district said it will proceed with all athletic programs as scheduled, while continuing to implement strict safety procedures.

"Our coaching staff is doing a phenomenal job ensuring that all student athletes are working within the safety guidelines given by the TEA/UIL/CDC," the release said. "The district is following all guidelines from these authorities, including the level of sanitation that must take place when there is a reported possible case of COVID-19 (even if yet to be determined) in order for the program to continue.

"Swift action will be taken when, or if, there is any need for adjustments to the program in the future."

Ingleside maintenance officials are working to "deep clean affected athletic facilities" and continue to maintain a well sanitized area for the team.
