Hundreds of people showed up to the Salvation Army food giveaway Tuesday morning.

Police were even called out to help with the long lines of people waiting to pick up food boxes.

Each car was given enough food to feed a family of four for a week. We're told volunteers had 600 boxes prepared and they were expecting to give them all away.

Salvation Army gives out food the first Tuesday and Wednesday of every month but it was delayed during the holiday.

Captain Patrick Gesner, with the Salvation Army, said, "Thank you to the people who continue to donate, it's all because of the goodness of the community and the financial donations make it possible to do this during the coronavirus. We are all hurting."

Tomorrow's food distribution has been canceled.

The salvation army is out of food and now working with the food bank to schedule another food give away.

We'll let you know when that will happen.
