H-E-B announced it is extending its "proud pay" to their employees through May 24 to all hourly store, manufacturing, warehouse and transportation employees.

"Thank you to our Partners who are working around the clock to keep shelves stocked and customers safe in Texas," the company said in a statement.

"Proud Pay" is a temporary pay increase of $2 for each employee.

H-E-B said it understands its role to provide essential services to customers during a time when so many other businesses have not been able to stay open or have had to scale back operations significantly.

"This is the spirit of H-E-B," the store said.
