Gregory-Portland Independent School District is reporting that a student athlete tested positive for COVID-19.
The student is a part of the strength-and-conditioning program at Gregory-Portland Middle School, and reportedly has not practiced with the team since last week.
However, the district said that in an abundance of caution, practices for the middle-school program have been canceled until July 13.
School coaching staff said safety procedures have been in place such as social distancing, wearing face masks at all times and checking temperatures.
Meanwhile, the high-school strength and conditioning program will continue practicing. The district stated high school and middle school athletes in the program practice in different facilities.
