CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There may not be a lot of public places where you can take your kids and their four-legged friends out for some quality time.
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is getting ready for this year's Pawfest happening this weekend.

"It also gives an opportunity to see some other things that you can do with your animal at home," Executive Director Sharon Ray said.

The free, two-day event will host several vendors, food trucks, pony rides and a petting zoo.

"While you're here you can walk around and see all of animals that are up for adoption," Ray said. "They will be available this weekend so you might go home with the next family member that you didn't know that you wanted."

This weekend all the proceeds will towards the Gulf Coast Humane Society so you can help those kitties and pups in need of medical care and major surgeries.

"It helps us continue what we are so passionate about," Public Information Officer and Events Coordinator Kristen Bily said. "This gives us a chance to continue fighting for those who can't speak for themselves."

The Heart of Texas Dockdogs from Houston will perform several tricks in a pool of water. The Flying Disc Dogs of Austin will also demonstrate their skills.

You can register you doggy for about $20 for a chance to try out some of the games and get some pointers from the pros!
