CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local man is upset after finding out the hard way that a Department of Public Safety office did not have a public restroom.
When Richard Nunez heard the words, "There is no public restroom here" -- that is when his day took a turn for the worst.
"They told me there was a restroom at the laundry mat down the road," Nunez said.
He said he drove as quickly as possible, but when he got to the laundry mat the door was locked.
"I wound up having an accident," he said. "I had to use the restroom right there by the truck in the parking lot. it made me feel terrible. It made me feel embarrassed."
A map of the building's layout also hangs at the entrance of the office and does not list a public restroom.
"I am diabetic," he said. "And diabetics have to go to the restroom every hour to every hour and a half."
Nunez said he never thought this would happen to him at a government building.
He said if tax payer money provides that building, the building should provide a public restroom -- specifically in a place that is notorious for long waiting times.
Action 10 News went by the DPS office in Sinton and were referred to Sgt. Nathan Brandley who then referred us to the media and communications department in Austin.
We have yet to hear back. Action 10 News will keep you updated.
