If you receive federal benefits and claim your children as dependents, you could see a larger COVID-19 stimulus check.
An extra $500 will be added for each eligible dependent, on top of your $1,200 stimulus check.
The Internal Revenue Service deadline to apply is 11 a.m. April 22.
Clark said if you miss the April deadline, don't panic: You will receive your $1,200 check, but not the added $500 until you file your taxes for 2020.
These funds will not hit your account until 2021.
Bill Clark with Tax Pro says this is not a recurring payment, but it will help many families across the nation.
This applies to beneficiaries who typically are not required to file a tax return: folks receiving Social Security, survivor or disability benefits, Railroad Retirement, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Veteran Affairs benefits with dependents under the age of 17.
“If they’re a married couple and have no dependents, they don’t need to be bothered with this," Clark said. "This is just for those with dependent children.”
