As a parent, the last thing you want to find out is if your child has a severe case of head lice.

However, if you do, there are resources available to help and one local business owner is helping to take care of that problem.

Owner and CEO of Lice Angels Miranda Davis says her clinic helps area children of all ages.

There are two locations in the Coastal Bend and that includes Corpus Christi and Alice.

So all of our lice removal treatments that we offer here are organic and all-natural unlike store-bought products there's a lot of pesticides and it's very toxic for the children's hair so everything we use here is 100% natural organic and it really works,” says Davis.

But like so many other local businesses Davis faced some challenges during the ongoing health crisis, she had to close her doors for two weeks.

Yet, some of her clients come in with doctor referrals so they were able to reopen and deemed as an essential business.

Staff is required to wear protective gear as they treat their clients and because the health crisis has affected so many people discounts are available.

“And the reason we're doing this is because times are hard and COVID affected a lot of families so we want to offer that service to where everybody who has Medicaid gets 50% on all of our treatments,” says Davis.

Patients who have traveled or feel sick will need to re-schedule and temperature checks will be done on-site.

Davis says these efforts are to help keep everyone safe, get rid of those unwanted critters, and give kids their confidence back.

“I've seen kids at school get bullied because of head lice they get made fun of they have really low self-esteem and whenever they come in here that's our goal to treat them and make them feel beautiful again and let them know it's completely normal all kids get lice,” says Davis.
