Sharonda Wilson was set to receive her bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.

But she skipped her own commencement last month to see her son, Stephan, graduate from Central Michigan University on the same day in Mount Pleasant, Mich., about 45 miles away.

When Central Michigan president Robert Davies her about her predicament, he contacted Ferris State president David Eisler.

The two academians got together and produced a plan. Davies was able to confer Sharonda’s degree at Stephan’s ceremoney on behalf of President Eisler and the FSU trustees.

The heartwarming moment of her degree being presented was posted on the university’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. It has gone viral with thousands of comments presented.

And it’s nice that the family was able to celebrate their accomplishments together for the world to see.

Here’s a link to the school’s Facebook page where you can watch the presentation.
