Two 16-year-old boys are facing serious charges after allegedly stealing a truck and crashing it inside Rose Hill Memorial Park.

According to police, employees called 911 after seeing two teens driving a white pickup truck near Ruth and Port Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When police arrived at the scene, they saw a Rose Hill Memorial Park employee holding down one of the teens and saw the other teen fleeing the scene.

Officers were able to track down the 16-year-old boy near an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Leopard. Officers discovered the truck the boys were driving in had been reported stolen early Wednesday morning.

Both teens were charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. One of the teens is being charged for evading because he tried to run away from police officers, according to Senior Officer Travis Pace with the Corpus Christi police department.

Both were transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
