A local family is hosting a BBQ benefit for their son fighting cancer for the third time.

Austin Sanchez, now nine-years-old, has been battling cancer since he was seven.

The family says he has been through radiation and chemotherapy, but it is not killing cancer cells.

They keep returning to the hospital, this time, Austin has three tumors in his lungs. They say his only option is a new treatment that is only available at the National Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Austin is ready to fight but his insurance is delaying a response to whether they will pay for the treatment.

Which is why the family is hosting a benefit, they say the tumors are growing and can spread if he does not receive the treatment soon.

“Time is ticking, and the last thing that we want is for it to spread to any other parts of his body, his liver, his lymph nodes,” says Austin’s dad Gabriel Sanchez.

The benefit will be held Saturday, October 13th at 11 am, in front of David’s Barber Salon on Norton St.

The family is inviting the entire community to come out and help Austin fight for his life.

If you are unable to attend, you can make a donation to the GoFundMe account Team Austin Sanchez.

The family says they need about $40,000 to start treatment but will require more help covering expenses as the treatment progresses.
