Heavy rain has been impacting the Coastal Bend overnight and it looks to continue doing that through the next couple of days.

Tuesday: More heavy rain possible

A large pulse in thunderstorms activity developed overnight and moved very slowly across the Coastal Bend. This left rainfall totals of over 2 to 3 inches, and isolated pockets higher than that scattered around the area. Because heavy rain has already fallen, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the area through Wednesday afternoon for the possibility of flooding in flood-prone areas.

During the afternoon, expect to see scattered shower activity throughout the region. We are more likely to see breaks in the rain, as opposed to rain all day long, but heavy rain and flooding will still be a concern.

Rainfall totals will be patchy again with some folks seeing a lot and others seeing little to none. The heaviest of totals will set up where storms train over the same areas time and time again. Unfortunately, those areas can’t be determined in advance. Remember that if water covers the road, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

We’ll see highs only in the upper 80s as the rain and clouds keep things a little cooler.
