No perfect scores or A-list restaurants but one restaurant did make the B-list.
La Playa Mexican Café located at 7118 South Padre Island Drive scored an 86.
Health inspectors found spray bottles not labeled, the refrigerator and walk-in cooler were kept at the wrong temperature, left over food was not labeled, no thermometer, employee cups needed lids, employees were wearing jewelry but they were not wearing no beard guards and wiping towels were not stored properly.
Other violations included the kitchen and walk in cooler needing more lighting, grease build up behind equipment and on equipment, back door has too many gaps, ceiling tiles need to be replaced, a dirty bar area and the women’s restroom needs a trash can with a lid.
