3 in running for open Board of Regents District 4 seat

Three people remain in the running to fill the Del Mar Board of Regents District Four Seat.

The College’s Board of Regents reviewed the applications during a Called Meeting on Tuesday, June 5, and selected three applicants to be interviewed by the Board at the monthly Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 12.

The three finalists up for the Board of Regents District 4 seat are:

• Raymond M. Rose, M.Ed.

• Mary Sherwood, Ph.D.

• Armando Solis

Following the interviews, it is expected that the Board will make an appointment to fill the District 4 vacancy. 

The appointment to the Board will extend to the November 2020 election.

The deadline to submit applications was 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 28

As of the filing deadline, a total of eight individuals had submitted their letters of interest and resumes for consideration to be appointed to the District 4 seat vacated last month by the resignation of former Del Mar College Regent Guy L. Watts.

Individuals who filed for the seat include:

• Nathan S. Cook, Ph.D.

• Thomas V. Gottemoller

• Jacqueline Phillips, D.O.

• Raymond M. Rose, M.Ed.

• Mary Sherwood, Ph.D.

• Armando Solis

• Laurie Turner, Ed.D.
