Local cemetery holds special ceremony honoring military

Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home held its annual Memorial Day "Honor our Military" Ceremony this afternoon.  The event included guest speaker, Captain Philip M. Brock, USN, Commanding Officer of NAS Corpus Christi.  

The cemetery was decorated in red, white and blue in preparation for the weekend visitors.  The Boy and Girl Scouts of America gave them some help.

On Friday afternoon, the Scouts’ raised the flag then they placed small flags on graves.

The ceremony also included the South Texas Historical Reenactors, U.S. Marines Patriots Band and Honor Guard, performances by the Corpus Christi Pipes and Drums, Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas, a flag display provided by H&S Constructors, a motorcycle Hearse, and more.

The Gold Star Wives, Gold Star Mothers, Blue Star Families, and all veterans’ organizations and military personnel past and present were recognized.

Free hamburgers and chips were served to all ceremony guests and music was performed by local artists.

Commemorative lapel pins were given to Veterans attending our ceremony who served between November 1955 ~ May 15, 1975.
