It’s been 9 years since a body was found near the J.C. Elliot Landfill.
The unsolved murder is the Crime of the Week.
According to Officer Gena Pena with the Corpus Christi Police Department, "We haven’t forgotten about him. We haven’t forgotten about this homicide. We are still trying to get new leads to close this case out to bring them some justice and some closure."
On May 18, 2009, the body of Alejandro "Alex" Barrera’s body was dumped in the 7000 block of Greenwood.
Police say he was shot several times.
No one has ever been in arrested, and now the case has gone cold.
Officer Pena said, "It does get harder with time. It does not by any means mean that we are ever going to close this case out, until it is solved, until it is closed. We will never stop looking for the person who committed this homicide."
