The Valero gas station at the 13000 block of Leopard near Five Points and its customers were recently a target of credit card thieves. One of their gas pumps had a credit card skimmer.
An employee at the store was doing some maintenance work on the pumps Wednesday afternoon and noticed something odd at one of the pumps.
He saw wires attached to a harness in the pump. It turned out to be a card skimmer.
Police say there’s no surveillance cameras at that store so they are unable to figure out how long the skimmer has been there.
Police advise that anyone who has used a gas pump at that gas station check their credit card and/or bank statements.
