A man who was shot and killed by Corpus Christi Police during a home invasion robbery has been identified.

The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 34-year-old Adan Rene Marrero as the man killed by officers responding to a robbery call in the 2300 block of Capitan Drive last night.

According to police, multiple people broke into an apartment on Capitan just after midnight.

Police say responding officers confronted the men as they were leaving the apartment.

Marrero was shot by police, and died at the scene.

Another man, 25-year-old Michael Guzman was arrested by CCPD, and charged with Burglary with Intent to Commit another Felony, Possession of Marijuana, Outstanding Warrant, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive, Giving False ID and Evading Arrest.

CCPD says the robbers physically assaulted several apartment residents before officers arrived.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers are being placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with department policy.

It is unclear if this home invasion is related to Monday’s deadly shooting in the London area.
