Jenna Bush Hager shared her family’s holiday card on her Instagram account and people are loving the honesty and sweetness of its message.
The front of the card is a birth announcement of sorts for her third child, Hal, born Aug. 2, saying “How Wonderful Life Is Now That You’re In the World: Happy Hal-idays!”
If you click over to the second side of the card, you get a humorous image of Jenna, her husband, Henry Hager, her daughters Mila, 6, and Poppy Louise, 4, and baby Hal. The girls are dressed adorably but seem to be gripping each other in joyous mid-scream while their parents pose and smile with a peaceful Hal.
The photo is inscribed with the message, “All is not calm, but all is bright.”
Bush Hager posted a further Instagram caption along with the card saying, “Happiest Hal-i-days!!!! 2019 sure has been sweet!! Thanks to all of you for your kindness and well wishes this year! May your days be warm and bright.”
One Instagram commenter, @ponzellthedford said, “The girls’ faces though… y’all melt my heart!” while several other people remarked on Hal’s resemblance to Bush Hager’s father, former U.S. president George W. Bush.
Bush Hager has commented on “The Today Show,” where she co-hosts with Hoda Kotb, about how challenging it can be with three kids. And her card captures that honesty.
“There are days where it feels hard,” she said on the episode that she filmed upon her return from maternity leave. “Live television is easier than being a mom sometimes.”
In other Instagram posts, the Hager clan seems to be a happy and energetic bunch, like this Thanksgiving photo.
And this shot from the very early days with Hal when the family ventured out of the house, which Bush Hager captioned, “Life is wilder and we are perpetually late and walk slower. But life with Hal is so, so sweet.”
And clearly Poppy Louise and Mila love their new little brother, as seen in their squeezes of affection at Halloween (below) and other photos their mom has posted to Instagram.
