H-E-B announced on its website Thursday that they would administer the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to the general public.

In the announcement, the Texas-based grocery chain said they will partner with federal and state government to administer the vaccine following the CDC distribution schedule.

"H-E-B is proud to continue our long-term tradition of taking care of Texans," reads the statement on the company's website.

This comes after Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the CDC made an initial allotment of over 1.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the State of Texas for the month of December.

These vaccines, which should begin arriving in Texas the week of December 14th, will be distributed to qualifying providers across the state who will administer these immunizations based on the Vaccine Distribution Principles developed by the state's Expert Vaccine Allocation Panel.
