A 76-year-old man is pronounced dead after he was pulled out of the waters.

Paul Veihman was identified as the man who drowned on Mustang Island early Tuesday afternoon.

First responders were called out to a drowning call on Mustang Island just after 1:55 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a police report, beach-goers saw a man who was by himself. Minutes later, the man was seen floating in the water unresponsive.

People in the area pulled the man out of the waters before medics arrived at the scene.

Veihman was transported to Bay Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Earlier today, Nueces County Emergency Service District No. 2 reported surf conditions for Tuesday were set at a yellow flag, which means medium hazard of the beach.
