CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Fire Department and the Annaville Fire Department worked together to battle a blaze near the Corpus Christi Speedway Saturday afternoon.
Corpus Christi Fire Department battalion chief Robin McGill tells KRIS 6 News that they received reports of a brush fire around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived at the scene, the wind changes started to rapidly move the fire, and McGill says local businesses in the area were at-risk, but thanks to the hard work of the firefighters, the fire was able to be contained.
McGill says the recent freeze and dry conditions more than likely were contributing factors to what he calls a "difficult fire".
No structural damage or injuries were reported.
