CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — From Pokémon and LEGO challenges to art and fitness, there are several events happening across the Coastal Bend this weekend. Whether you're a collector, looking for something to do with the kids or hoping to stay active, here are a few events to check out.
Summer Stampede Sports Cards and Pokémon Show
Pokémon is one of the hottest things in the Coastal Bend right now, and collectors will have a chance to join in on the fun this weekend.
Off The Wall Sports Cards & Collectibles is hosting Summer Stampede 3 on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Airport, located at 5549 Leopard St. in Corpus Christi.
More than 80 vendors are expected at the show, giving visitors a chance to buy, sell and trade Pokémon cards, sports cards and other collectibles. Even if you're not looking to make a purchase, there will be thousands of collectibles to browse.
The event will also feature prizes every 30 minutes beginning at 11 a.m., giving collectors another reason to stick around throughout the day.
Admission is $5 per person. Whether you're a longtime collector or just getting into the hobby, you might be able to find your next big find.
Ninjago Challenge at the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures
If LEGO is more your speed, the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures & Education Center is inviting families to put their ninja skills to the test with a Ninjago Challenge.
The event runs Saturday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Families and groups can also take advantage of a special $5 group rate this weekend, while members of the Corpus Christi LEGO Users Group, or CCLUG, receive free admission.
Visitors can pick a spinner or bring their own for the Spinjitzu Sparring Showdown, check out classic Ninjago sets and custom builds from CCLUG members, and catch Dareth's Super Danger Blades, a historical presentation from the "authentic" sensei.
There will also be a Sensei's Scavenger Hunt, where participants can earn points throughout the museum on their way to becoming a master ninja.
And don't forget to say Sensei Wu sent you!
Fourth Sunday at the Art Museum of South Texas
For families looking for a more leisurely Sunday, the Art Museum of South Texas is offering free admission as part of its monthly Fourth Sundays program, presented by Reliant.
Every fourth Sunday of the month, visitors can explore the museum for free from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The program gives families and visitors a chance to spend the afternoon strolling through the museum and exploring its galleries and exhibitions.
Visitors can also make a day of it with brunch on the bay at Elizabeth's, located inside the museum.
The Art Museum of South Texas is located at 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Corpus Christi.
2026 Women's Fit Fest at YWCA Corpus Christi
Women looking to get active this weekend can head to the 2026 Women's Fit Fest at YWCA Corpus Christi on Sunday, Aug. 23, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The event will feature Corpus Christi's first all-women's 40-plus functional fitness competition. The event is meant to be inclusive of women of all ages, experience levels, and fitness abilities.
Whether you work out regularly, are just getting started, or haven't exercised in a while and want to get back into a routine, the event offers a supportive environment to get moving and challenge yourself at your own level.
Those who don't want to compete can still come out to cheer on participants and connect with local wellness vendors and community partners.
Participation costs $25 for YWCA members and $35 for non-members. The event will be held at YWCA Corpus Christi, 4601 Corona Drive.
