City leaders and local public health officials have scheduled a noon news conference for today at city hall.
The gathering, which will take place in council chambers, will include Nueces Co. Judge Barbara Canales, Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb, City of Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni, Corpus Christi-Nueces Co. Public Health District Director Annette Rodriguez and local health authority Dr. Srikanth Ramachandruni.
CCISD posted a message to its Facebook page Wednesday, as well as calling parents, to inform them local health officials have told certain members of the community they have have come in contact with someone who was possibly exposed to COVID-19.
It is unclear if the two events are related.
"We wanted to let you know that we are aware that local health department officials have informed some residents individually that they may have come into contact in the community with someone who may have been exposed to the novel (sic) coronavirus. We want to reassure you that there are no confirmed cases of the virus in our area."
