CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A powerful early-winter cold front will arrive in the Coastal Bend late Wednesday, plunging temperatures deep into the 40s by Thursday morning. A howling north wind will keep afternoon temperatures in the 50s Thursday afternoon.

Christmas Day will begin cold but moderate into the 60s. Only a few coastal showers can be expected on Wednesday. Meantime, warm and humid conditions prevail tonight and Wednesday. Temperatures recover gradually over the weekend and into next week, with only a few showers expected on Saturday.

Highs will be in the 70s to near 80, except upper 50s to 60s Thursday and Christmas Day. Lows will be generally in the 40s and 50s, with 30s Christmas morning.
