CORPUS CHRISTI - TEXAS — Another cool start in South Texas this morning as temperatures are mainly in the 40s & 50s area-wide, with a few low 60s for our coastal communities. A few spots are seeing some spotty dense fog, so use caution on the early morning commute.
We'll continue our streak of beautiful weather with mainly sunny skies and mild to warm temperatures. We should be seeing highs around 67 degrees for this time of year, but today in Corpus Christi the afternoon high will top in the upper 70s, around 78.
Winds will be on the increase out of the southeast about 10-20 MPH and gusting occasionally. Small Craft Caution will be advised with the bays turning slightly to occasionally choppy and the seas 2-5 feet and the rip current risk on the low end.
Tonight, the winds will lighten up, humidity will be on the increase and temperatures will only fall into the upper 50s to low 60s with a few clouds moving in.
Monday and Tuesday will feature more wind (more-so on Tuesday with sustained winds around 20-30 MPH and gusting) and continued above normal temperatures with highs in the middle to upper 70s. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of our inland communities reach the low 80s for afternoon high temperatures. We'll also pick up more clouds and see a small opportunity for a stray shower or sprinkle. The winds will be too high to pick up any meaningful rain.
That rainfall chance does pick up on Wednesday with the arrival of our next cold front. The timing of this front looks to have slowed down and now looks to arrive Wednesday late afternoon/early evening. Scattered showers and thundershowers will be possible in our area with frontal passage. Best chances for rain remain north of us, but we'll still see our fair share and now rainfall values look to average around a quarter inch, versus only a few hundredths or tenths. We'll have to monitor this front closely as the timing and track of the storm system will alter what we can expect. Be sure to stay up to date with the latest forecasts from the 6WEATHER Center.
Once the front moves by, much cooler temperatures will move in just in time to ring in the new year. New Year's Eve night looks to have temperatures in the 30s and 40s for now.
