CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — We find ourselves still in a fairly messy weather pattern that has yielded little sunshine and favored the overcast conditions along with light mist, fog and drizzle over the last 48 hours or so.
This condition is all because of overrunning conditions with cool temperatures on the surface and warm and moist air continuing to stream in from the Pacific in the upper-levels of the atmosphere. It has resulted in just under a tenth of an inch of rainfall at Corpus Christi International Airport over the last two days.
We'll begin to see this pattern break down slightly today as frontal boundary will still be lingering nearby, but the upper-level low to our west is moving northeast and beginning to fall apart.
That means the early morning showers and fog will give way to afternoon sunshine from west to east and much warmer afternoon high temperatures. Here in Corpus Christi, we'll forecast a high of 78 with light winds. Inland communities will get closer to the lower 80s, about 10-15 degrees above average.
Tonight, the clouds will return quickly and swiftly along with more dense fog. We'll fall back down into the upper 50s to low 60s on Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon will be mainly cloudy and overcast with a few spots of drizzle possible. Again, we're only expecting a few hundredths of an inch of rain with a few tenths at best favoring the coastal areas. Highs will be back into the lower 70s, but still above normal.
More wind returns on Sunday which will break the clouds some but will still favor mainly cloudy skies and a high near 80 in Corpus Christi.
A cold front will move through the area around midday on Monday and temporarily clear out the clouds again and slowly usher in some cooler and drier air by the middle of next week.
Another reinforcing front pushes in on Wednesday as well. That will take highs back near seasonal levels in the upper 60s, for Thursday under partly cloudy skies and a bit more wind.
