CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today's heavy rains continue to fall in and around the Coastal Bend, causing flooding around the area with more rain expected.

Marsha Ziegler of Sinton sent these pictures to our newsroom.

She says they show conditions at her home.

Ziegler told us nearly 6 inches of rain had come down at her place since early this morning.

Action 10 Meteorologist Sharon Ray says radar estimates showed as much as 7 inches fell up the coast north of Rockport.

As of 2:30 p.m., the total rain accumulation today was 3 inches closer to Corpus Christi.

The deluge caused some problems.

At Interstate 37 and Labonte Park area, a car was underwater. This was Just one of several drivers who found their morning commute pretty treacherous.

As is always the case, some drivers are going to try to successfully navigate the high water.

Sometimes you make it. Sometimes you don’t.

Along the Highway 77 north and southbound access roads near the 5 Points area, drivers were turing around. The water was simply too deep.

And Lipes Road, close to Veterans High School, beginning at Cimarron, was underwater.

But around 1:30 p.m., sunlight broke thru the cloud cover.

Sharon says this is our most significant rainfall since December 20 and 21. when nearly 4 inches fell.

More rain is expected this week thru at least Wednesday.
