In the wake of a warm, breezy and humid Saturday afternoon, patchy overnight fog will precede a strong Sunday morning cold front. The front will bring isolated showers and a gusty north northeast wind, but the frontal showers constitute the only rainfall expected for the coming week.
Plan on cool nights and mild days through midweek, with a gradual warming Thursday through Saturday. A large ridge of Canadian high pressure will linger behind the cold front over the eastern half of the nation, keeping northeasterly winds over South Texas. That will mean lower humidity but also enhance potential for coastal flooding.
The high moves into the mid-Atlantic late in the week, allowing Gulf moisture to return higher humidity levels on southeasterly winds. Highs will gradually warm from the upper 70s to middle 80s, with lows moderating from the upper 50s to middle 60s.
