CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — What was Tropical Storm Beta now has lost tropical characteristics as it pulls away into the lower Mississippi Valley, leaving light, northerly winds and partly cloudy skies over the Coastal Bend.
High pressure at the surface and in the upper air will keep fair skies in place the rest of this week.
The next chance for rain will be isolated showers on Monday, as a weak disturbance moves through the area with lower-than-normal amounts of atmospheric moisture.
By midweek, a cold front arrives, accompanied by cooler air and scattered thunderstorms.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s, dipping to the middle 80s behind the front on Wednesday.
Low will remain in the lower 70s, then fall to the lower 60s Wednesday night.
