Scattered rain through the weekend

Posted

Rain started moving into parts of the Coastal Bend on Thursday afternoon, and the rain is expected to remain in the area through the weekend.

Friday’s forecast

With the Jazz Festival coming up this weekend, you’re going to definitely want the umbrella to be handy. The clouds and rain will once again be in the forecast for Friday, with the better chance of rain still sitting along the coastline.

Highs will be very much dependent on rainfall. If the rain continues all day long, then highs will stay in the 60s. But if there are a few breaks in the rain, the temperatures may be able to make it to the 70s.

It will be possible for some areas to see locally heavy rainfall. The heaviest of the rain is likely to fall over the islands and the eastern part of the coastal counties. Rainfall totals will drop off dramatically the further inland you go. There are likely to be areas near the coast that get multiple inches, while just a couple of miles inland may see little or no rainfall.

The weekend

The weather system that is responsible for the increasing rain chances will move to the south as we hit the weekend. This still won’t take the chance of rain out of the forecast though. There is still likely to be isolated to scattered showers across the area with highs in the 70s.

Next week

Nothing looks to change for the start of next week—the clouds, rain, and below average temperatures look to remain.
