A rain maker is moving toward the Coastal Bend, and while it will stay just offshore, rain chances will increase over the next two days

Thursday’s forecast

More cloud cover is expected for Thursday, but this time the clouds are anticipated to drop some rain. The better chance for rain looks to be late-Thursday through Friday morning, but scattered rain will be possible all day.

Highs will only reach the mid-60s as the clouds and rain keep it cool. It will be possible for some areas to see locally heavy rainfall. The heaviest of the rain is likely to fall over the islands and the eastern part of the coastal counties. Rainfall totals will drop off dramatically the further inland you go. There are likely to be areas near the coast that get multiple inches, while just a couple of miles inland may see little or no rainfall.

Friday’s forecast

The possibility of locally heavy rain will continue through Friday morning. The chance of rain drops on Friday afternoon, but it doesn’t go away. The clouds will remain, but highs will actually make it to the 70s.

The weekend

The coastal trough will move south for the weekend, and it will take a lot of the rain with it. However, a few showers will still be possible.
