The weekend got off to a hot start in the Coastal Bend, with near constant sunshine and more heat on the way.

On Saturday, temperatures hovered in the lower to mid-90s, with near constant sunshine and winds out of the southeast at 10-15 mph. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies and mild conditions with an overnight low around 73.

Sunday, expect more warm weather and plenty of sun with an afternoon high around 94 degrees.

Then, on Memorial Day, a daytime high around 97 degrees is expected. We should start to see impacts from Subtropical Storm Alberto on Memorial Day, with high swells and a higher risk of rip currents on area beaches.

Those headed out to the water for the holiday weekend are strongly advised to use caution when entering the water. Minor coastal flooding is also possible in some areas as a result of high water. The storm is not expected to bring any other impacts to our area.

In the eastern Gulf, Alberto was slowly moving north towards the Florida coastline at around 13 mph at time of writing.
